About This Event


Description: A supportive group for parents of young children with IDDs to connect, share experiences, and learn about developmental milestones in social-emotional and language skills. This 6-week parent-and-child series is designed for families of young children with Down syndrome or any other developmental or intellectual disability. Each 45-minute session combines opportunities for peer interaction for children with valuable learning and discussion for parents. Guided by the DIRFloortime® framework, parents will explore the five developmental capacities that form the foundation for communication, social-emotional, and language development. Now offered via hybrid model- you can join virtually via Microsoft Teams or in person at our campus!

 

6-week series of 45-minute group sessions Fridays from 10:00-10:45

Week 1 3/20: Regulation and Sharing Attention

Week 2 3/27: Engaging and Relating

Week 3 4/3: Purposeful Communication

Week 4 4/17: Back-and-forth Interactions and Sequencing

Week 5 4/24: Early Language

Week 6 5/1: Putting it All Together!

Each week has a learning focus and plenty of opportunities for play, and it will include useful strategies for supporting your little one’s development at home.
